Targówek – Is It Worth Living There? An Honest Review
Targówek is a right-bank district of Warsaw still associated by many residents with the prefab apartment blocks of Bródno. But the opening of new M2 metro stations and a wave of new developments have changed its image – today it is one of the fastest-rising districts in Warsaw. But is it worth moving here? It depends on which neighborhood.

Bródno
The largest neighborhood of Targówek – classic 1970s/80s prefab apartment blocks, the vast Bródno Park with a lake, and the M2 metro terminus Bródno.
Bródno-Podgrodzie
A smaller, quieter part of the historical Bródno village next to Bródno Park. Mixed buildings – blocks and low-rise.
Targówek Mieszkaniowy
The flagship neighborhood with two metro stations (Targówek Mieszkaniowy, Trocka), a major shopping centre and many new developments.
Targówek Fabryczny
Post-industrial part of the district with rail sidings and warehouses. Slowly transforming, but still poor in services and greenery.
Zacisze
A calm villa neighborhood with single-family houses, narrow streets and a homely atmosphere. Few apartment blocks, lots of greenery.
Elsnerów
Small neighborhood next to Targówek Fabryczny – a mix of single-family homes and small apartment blocks.
Utrata
The smallest neighborhood of Targówek – mostly single-family housing and industrial fringes.
Transport – the M2 metro changed everything
Opening of the eastern leg of the M2 metro in 2019 and 2022 was a game-changer for Targówek. Today the district has three metro stations: Targówek Mieszkaniowy, Trocka and Bródno (terminus). Trocka to the city centre takes about 15 minutes, Bródno – 18.
Beyond the metro, Targówek is served by tram lines (along Radzymińska and Św. Wincentego streets) and many bus routes. Best connected neighborhoods: Targówek Mieszkaniowy and Bródno; weakest – Targówek Fabryczny and Utrata.
Green areas and recreation
Targówek is often underrated for its greenery, yet it has one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Warsaw – Bródno Park with a big lake, walking and cycling paths, and playgrounds. Add Park Wiecha, allotment gardens, and the proximity of Choszczówka forests.
Infrastructure and services
The shopping heart is the Targówek Shopping Centre next to Trocka metro station, plus smaller centres (Atrium Targówek, Galeria Bródno). Best service access: Targówek Mieszkaniowy and Bródno; in Zacisze and Elsnerów you'll have to drive for bigger shopping.

Who is Targówek for?
- Buyers looking for value + metro – Bródno and Targówek Mieszkaniowy offer a price/connection compromise hard to find elsewhere.
- Families looking for quiet – Zacisze is one of the calmest villa areas in right-bank Warsaw.
- Investors – new buildings around Bródno and Trocka metro have strong growth potential.
- Less recommended for people who want the "old Warsaw vibe" – Mokotów or Żoliborz fit better.
Summary
Targówek has changed enormously in the last decade. The M2 metro, new investments, the renewed Bródno Park and rising service quality make the district a real alternative to pricier central areas. Bródno, Targówek Mieszkaniowy and Zacisze benefit the most. Targówek Fabryczny is still waiting for its moment.
